Predictive Control of Multizone HVAC Systems in Non-residential Buildings

چکیده
In France, buildings account for a large part of the energy consumption and carbon emissions. Both are mainly due to Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems. So, the present work deals with the predictive control of multizone HVAC systems in nonresidential buildings. We used the PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) index as a thermal comfort indicator and developed low-order ANN-based models to be used as controller’s internal models. A genetic algorithm allowed the optimization problem to be solved. The proposed strategy allows the operation time of each HVAC sub-system to be optimized (and, as a result, electrical power consumption) and thermal comfort requirements to be met. In order to test this approach, a real non-residential building located in Perpignan (south of France) has been modelled using the EnergyPlus software. The results we obtained in simulation allows the pertinence of the predicitive strategy to be highlighted.

Predictive control of multizone heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems in non-residential buildings
In France, buildings account for a large part of the energy consumption and carbon emissions. Both are mainly due to Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Because older, oversized or poorly maintained systems may be using more energy and costing more to operate than necessary, new management approaches are needed. In addition, energy efficiency can be improved in central hea...

In France, non-residential buildings account for a significant part in energy consumption. Moreover, a large part of this consumption is due to Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems, which are generally badly handled. So, the present work deals with an efficient approach allowing energy consumption to be minimized while ensuring thermal comfort. In this sense, a predictive co...

At the Modelica 2009 conference, we introduced the Buildings library, a freely available Modelica library for building energy and control systems [16]. This paper reports the updates of the library and presents example applications for a range of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Over the past two years, the library has been further developed. The number of HVAC componen...

Carnegie Mellon University {jgluck, ckoehler, jmankoff, anind, yuvraj.agarwal}@andrew.cmu.edu ABSTRACT Heating, Ventilation, and Cooling (HVAC) systems are often the most significant contributor to the energy usage, and the operational cost, of large office buildings. Therefore, to understand the various factors affecting the energy usage, and to optimize the operational efficiency of building ...
